Lesbian friendly bar Mission Dolores in NY
Until 2010 Cattyshack used to be one of the lesbian bars in Brooklyn. From 2010 it’s closed and its former digs at 249 4th Avenue have been split in two. Lesbian friendly bar Mission Dolores, the latest offering from the folks behind Bar Great Harry, is already up and running on the ground floor space at the right of the building.
A laid-back hipster-ish joint any night of the week, Mission Dolores in Park Slope hosts a Monday night party that’s meant for everyone but tends to draw a low-key lesbian crowd there to enjoy the large menu of beers on tap and some easy conversation. Somewhat fitting as it’s located next to the space where lesbian bar the Cattyshack used to operate.
From the business:
Craft beer bar with the heart of a beer garden encased in a concrete jungle. Concrete beer heart in the jungle of Brooklyn. We do not have a kitchen, but we do have a few small snacks available for purchase. We do not reserve tables – all seating is first-come, first-serve. If you want to carve out a little space for your group have a couple people show up early to sort of stake a claim. It’s not foolproof, but it works surprisingly well.
If you are thinking of having a party at Mission Dolores, then you’ve most likely been to Mission Dolores and know the lay of the land. There is no back room or space out of the way or garden in the back – in fact, people have to walk through the entire space just to order a drink.
